Things of the Past

Isn’t it interesting how looking at old photos, thinking of past things, pondering the memories we have can make you smile, laugh, and cry . . . all at the same time?

True Happiness

What is true happiness? Does it exist? If it does - is it obtainable?

These are questions that for a moment I began to ask myself and in an instant I had the answer.

True happiness is being satisfied. Not satisfied with posessions, or a job, or another person, or a car, or a house or material things - but satisfied with the way things exist. To me this translates to being satisfied in God.

Does it exist? Some would argue with me but I say that yes God exists and if he is the source of satisfaction and happiness is being satisfied, then yes true happiness does exist.

Is it obtainable? This one I scratched my head about for quite some time. How can I as a sinful creature ever be truely satisfied in God? Then He reminded me. Christ died to remove that sin. With sin out of the way the only excuse I have for not obtaining this satisfaction is my rejection of God.

So the conclusion - true happiness is obtainable, we just have to accept it.

Day After Valentines Day

So it is the day after Valentines Day and it seems that things have returned to normal. People feel “ahhh - I’ve got my love in for the year”. Already you don’t hear about it on the radio or see it on television. Google has removed their roses and hearts and such. So while it may not be Valentines Day for another 365 days, I’m going to try to let those I care about know every day I possibly can until then.

If you are reading this - know you are cared for . . .

Thoughts On Valentine’s Day

Well, I made it back to Raleigh safely and without too much excitement.

So I was sitting here tonight thinking about Valentines Day (tomorrow). Is it just one giant marketing ploy by Hallmark or does it really mean something? If you ask me if you can’t show someone how you care the other 364 days of the year, then how do you expect to make up for it in one day?

Now don’t go thinking that I am all down on love or that I’m totally against the day. I just think that we as a whole society and we as MEN need to step up to the plate and if we care for someone let them know - no matter what the day - and let the know everyday.

Now the outcome may not always be pretty and you might get hurt along the way but there’ll be no room for regret.
