Friday, January 20th (13th)

Today was/is Friday, January 20th. A Friday like most, the end of the work week. That day when you say “TGIF - Thank Goodness its Friday!” Well depending on whom among my friends you ask, today they might slightly disagree with how greatful they are for today. Between my car woes, my friend Bryan getting in a pretty bad accident, and my friend’s mom’s boyfriend being in the hospital, one might think today was indeed Friday the 13th. Let me share a bit of my day.

Vacation and All Sorts of News

Today is MLK Day, a holiday to observe a great man who believed for the equality of all people regardless of race, sex, or religion. He was truly a man of vision. Due to this official, State observance, I am off of work today and it couldn’t have come at a better time. I could sense my life once again bordering on busyness and that’s the last thing I wanted! Today allowed me to take a bit of time to myself, focus things, plan for the next few weeks, etc. It was great!

In other news, I’m now officially published. I have an ISBN and everything. I used a service called SafariU to build a textbook for a course I’m co-teaching over at NC State. The course focuses on Applied Web Development. Basically we’re teaching Computer Science majors how to program for a web environment and make cool things like Wordpress, the blogging engine I use to power my site.

In some other news I have to say that the Lord has been gracious to me in really putting things in perspective. He has shown me the realization that I have to stop thinking and planning for 2, 5, or 10 years down the road. Instead, I need to focus on today and now. Focusing and meditating on the Lord and how the next step I take can be used to glorify Him.

Start of a New Year

Well, while I’ve had tons of time to post on here, I just haven’t felt like it :-P; sorry to those diligent readers. Christmas with the family was great and I’m blessed to have a family that loves me very much. Our Christmas was of the usual flare which is always reassuring. I came back to Raleigh a few days after Christmas to just take it easy before heading back to work.

I’ve posted some more photos to the gallery, some are open to all, but others are restricted to those who were actually at the event. If you’d like to see them, register at the bottom of the gallery page and I’ll let you know when your access is granted. I know to some this may seem silly, but I’ve had people ask me not to put their photos up on the web for all the world to see, just those who enjoyed the event.

Well, I guess I should get to bed, tomorrow is the first day back to work and there is lots to do before classes start next Monday.
