Last night was the third annual Joy Prom put on by the 11th graders at Providence Baptist Church.  This prom is for special needs individuals in the city of Raleigh.  This was my first year helping with the Joy Prom but it sure won’t be my last!  It was so neat to see all of these special individuals come into the church smiling and greated by hundreds of volunteers.  The girls went and had their makeup done, while the guys had their shoes shined.  Photographers were in no shortage and I think I saw some paparazzi?

I was the lighting guy for the evening.  Basically I pressed buttons and moved sliders in sync with the current song the DJ selected.  There was no science or real technique but I think it look pretty good and was exciting for all.

Alright, after having the weekend to try and work on a new design and to think on things - I realized that

• I’m not a designer
• Ground up work is difficult
• Most people just want to read what I write and see my photos

With those realizations, I’m revisiting the template ideas. As you should see now the VSlider theme which I will do some custom header work (the photo up top) later. Let me know what you think!

Well, I’m still not happy with how things have progressed with the site so far. So much so, that I believe now I will start from scratch for a new design. I was going to try and use an existing template for Wordpress (my blogging engine of choice) however now, the designer with in calls forth for me to make a crappy design. Thankfully, my brain is smarter and knows to call on the roommate to help where necessary :-D.

The site is undergoing some modifications over the next couple of days so bear with me and the continual flux of things.  I got tired of what I had and decided to spice things up a little more.  Thanks for all those faithful readers (all 2 of you).
