Adium X

Users of OS X know of the very famous iChat instant messenging client that comes preinstalled on any Apple computer. It is a fairly solid chat client including features for video and audio chat. The one thing iChat doesn’t have (by default) are some of the features I really wanted.

I find that file transfers dont work between ichat and aduim hopefully that may work better in 1.0.

Also, how do you pronounce it, I say it like 80-um but caleb has always said ADD-ium.

Found using the wayback machine on an old Adiumx.com site:

How is Adium pronounced?
Officially, Adium is pronounced like stadium, though there are adherents to Add-ee-um. The project leads actually pronounce it differently; you’re welcome to choose.

it’s a great client, though I can only use 3/5 of it behind our firewall… :)

Favorite OS X Software

For most people that read my blog, they know I’m an avid Mac user. I’m not going to get into a Windows vs. OS X debate here but I wanted to start sharing a few of my favorite OS X software packages for those readers who are also Mac users. I know...

Get a Mac Commercials

Apple has released a new set of Get a Mac commercials comparing a PC to a Mac. They talk about several of the issues surrounding the advantages that Macs have over PCs. Now before I start getting flamed – I just think these are funny. I’m not touting Mac superiority, I think...

Awesome commercial! Is there anything that Apple doesn’t do well? For those of you who have yet to come over to the light, Macs are superior. And, the commercial says it all! Once you go Mac you never go back! Thanks Jason for giving those PC users some hope! I’m just glad that I don’t have to reboot every 5 minutes. Hey, someone actually makes a product that works! What do you know!!

i dont even know where to start with nathan’s pc bashing. maybe we should look at apple’s stable OS. wait, they got that from linux. right. must be the hardware. wait… intel. oh my? where did apple go? i think the comparison isnt mac vs. pc, but osx vs. windows. i mean… who is going to say windows is that great? 10 bucks says they programmed it on linux.

Jason - May 2, 2006 - 4:43 pm

Travis for one, Apple didn’t get it from Linux they actually got it from UNIX and BeOS which is a bit different than Linux – get your facts straight :-p. Second I think Mac vs. PC is a fair comparison because no matter what hardware you put inside of a Mac, the heart, the soul, the blood that pushes life along is OS X. Now yes – its strength is built from UNIX but its beauty, ease of usability, and the down right ability to work – well that is all from Apple.
