Electronic Communication Rant

Disclaimer: I have never claimed to be, nor will I ever claim to be a person who is always correct in their use of the english language.

With that out of the way, I can go on to say the following: USE PARAGRAPHS PEOPLE!!!! Have we lost the mastery piece of the english language that allows us to break up coherent thoughts into paragraphs (and for some folks sentences)?

I love reading blogs and emails of my friends and family. It allows me the ability to keep up with people I can’t always see on a regular basis. Plus, a lot of my friends can share some extremely insightful things in the length of one of their blog posts – thus I want to fully enjoy it! However, I seemed to be continually plagued by folks inability to hit the enter/return key. Do all of my friends have bum keyboards? Come on folks – let us not throw out our language that we already speak horridly enough (me included) for some abbreviated form for electronic communication.

And while I’m ranting, what’s the deal with students, of all people, using “leet” speak in their emails to professors and TAs! May the Grammar Nazis have mercy on us all!

OK, though I never really use paragraphs in my posts…..I do however get my point across and that is what matters. I am more than willing to enlarge the font so you won’t read the same sentence 4 times ;) I am taking this request under consideration. You will see how this post of yours effected me per my next post on The Patti wagon this week.

p.s. – I know we all have spell check, but sometimes we don’t use it because we are all anxious to get out what we want to say ;) haha

Ok…most of the time i use paragraphs…lol….i think…. anyway – do you still have that digital rebel?

have you actually gotten emails with leet speak in them? you should automatically fail people.

though i have my own flaws of never using caps when i type.

ok here we go:

first of all patti: it’s EAGER, not anxious. “do not be anxious about anything…”. You know the verse. Anxious = worried. Eager = intense desire.

Second: you can use sentence fragments, without using perfect grammer. all we’re asking for is a little separation. just combine thoughts. it’s hard to read a 100 line post, with no break. we, the blogging community, don’t know how you’re organizing things, or which parts should stand out to us. you know? you’ve read The Sound and the Fury…and others.

make a point. make it stand out. you can still use fragments.
