NC State Fair 2007

After my return from Milwaukee on Saturday, I decided what better way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon then at the NC State Fair! The Burton and Miller families always go together for the fair and they invited me to tag along. We had an absolute blast! There was lots of good food, good conversation, fun exhibits, and good food . . . did I mention the good food? Of course “good” is a relative term not to be confused with healthy or beneficial for ones body. More photos are available over in the gallery.

FIE Conference in Milwaukee

I’m heading out of good ‘ole North Carolina for a few days to head to the Frontiers in Education conference hosted in Milwaukee this year. The conference focuses on education, training, and globalization of engineering disciplines especially those focused on technology such as electrical engineering and computer science.

A paper that I co-authored with some other way smarter people at the university was chosen to be in the conference proceedings and I get to go present the paper! I’m excited and a little nervous all at the same time. This will be the farthest north I’ve traveled, sad I know, and the first time I really get to “travel on business”. I as a lecturer usually don’t travel too much for the university.

I will return Saturday hopefully with some new friends as well as some new ideas for teaching computer science.
