Rebel Freshman

The past few weeks I’ve been extremely busy working on the web presence for a new ministry of Providence College Ministry called Rebel Freshman. The purpose of the study is to show students that spending hours partying, having self-centered religion, and rebelling against your parents isn’t exactly rebellion but rather conformity to what the world says you should be doing. The study goes on to show that to follow Christ is true rebellion and that by losing our life, we actually gain new life.

It was a great privilege and opportunity to work with the folks at my church to make this site a reality. They have some creative guys making the videos and several of the graphic elements – I’m gad I could just bring it all together for them. On The Incarnation

This past weekend was Providence’s annual Christmas worship ministries event. This year’s performance was entitled “On The Incarnation” with much of the basis of the show coming from the recently released album of the same name by my good friend, Daniel Renstrom.

While I spent most of the time directing the show and running lighting, I did sneak a few photographs in between light cues. Thanks to Ben Salmon for the group photos of the tech team!

I mentioned in my post yesterday that I was continuing to work on editing some photos from the week of Impact 2009 involving some wake boarding with a ministry named Wake United. Here is just a little teaser of one of the guys, Bry, and his awesomeness. I think it is so cool they want to use whatever they have and are good at to praise God – even wake boarding!

Getty Concert

On Sunday, Keith & Kristyn Getty (and their amazing band) came to Providence to help us lead worship for the morning services and to have a concert on Sunday night. The day was full of a lot of fun challenges and they are really an amazing group of musicians to work with. I was able to snag some photos during the final rehearsal before the evening concert. Song of Christmas

I’ve been MIA on the blog lately mainly due to one thing – the annual Providence Baptist Church Christmas production. As in the past two years, I served this year as the lighting director for the show. Perhaps more exhilirating however, was the fact that I also got to “call” the show this year. This means that I was the guy on the headset saying “cue choir! Stand by video!” etc. While it has absorbed a lot of my time it was an absolute blast to serve this year as always. Probably the best part was the great group of people that I got to serve with for all the shows.

It is such a privilege to serve with these amazing people week in and week out! Check out more photos – especially some fun ones of the roommate in the Song of Christmas gallery.

Lake Baptism

My church has an annual lake baptism service out at Falls Lake north of Raleigh. Last year was the first year I attended and I promised myself that I would make it again this year! I was able to snag some awesome photos last year and willingly waded out into the lake with camera in hand to take some more photos.

Impact 2008

This past week I had the amazing experience of getting to serve middle and high school students at my church’s annual camp – Impact. Back in January or February the Lord laid on my heart to help with this camp and serve in a tech and A/V capacity. I wasn’t really approached by anyone in particular but the need was main known as I viewed what little footage and recordings there were of previous years.

The Lord begin to paint a picture for me of one ministry area serving another ministry area with our own special gifts and talents – a picture of the body of Christ. How could I not listen to God?!?!?!?

While the week was exhausting, I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Not only did I have an opportunity to serve the King but I got to serve my brothers and sisters in Christ using the gifts God has given me.

Adore & Tremble

On Friday night a good friend of mine, Daniel Renstrom, release his solo debut: Adore & Tremble. Daniel is the College Ministry Director at Providence Baptist Church and is one of several worship leaders at the church. It has been an amazing honor to work with Daniel, get to know him better, and see him grow as an artist.
