New Design – New Commitment

Well Theonecubed.com has undergone the next iterative step in the site’s presence on the web. The more I look at the content of my site, the more I realize that typically my content revolves around photographs I have taken. With that in mind I altered the site to provide more space for larger photographs and honestly to just be different!

As for the new commitment – I’m committing to update the blog once a week. What the content will be – I don’t know. I’m hoping that I can increase the updates to more than once per week – but I vow to at least once per week!

Apologies to RSS Feed Users

So I installed a new plugin the other day that allows integration of Twitter into my WordPress blog. It is nice it gives the nifty little Twitter update on the side bar and was supposed to be cool and post a daily digest of my tweets for the day. Unfortunately, the plugin went haywire and posted like 30 times per day or something crazy like that! So sorry to those of you who use RSS and got all these crazy posts fed into your reader.

Server Issues

Hey to all two of my readers – been having some server issues over the weekend and first part of this week. ~~The site is up but the gallery isn’t functioning as it should be – yet. Hang with me while I get all this sorted out.~~

Update: The photo gallery is back up and functioning relatively well. Still working on getting URL’s prettier for ease of use.

New Site Design

For some time now I’ve been wanting to update my site. Early this week I found the background image on a free website. I contacted the artist behind the background, David Puffer, and he was so kind as to give me permission to use it on my website. Then today I found a clean layout template for WordPress so I quickly married the two. The photo gallery will hopefully come back online tomorrow.

Site Redesign Pt. 3

Alright, after having the weekend to try and work on a new design and to think on things – I realized that

I’m not a designer
Ground up work is difficult
Most people just want to read what I write and see my photos

With those realizations, I’m revisiting the template ideas. As you should see now the VSlider theme which I will do some custom header work (the photo up top) later. Let me know what you think!

Site Redesign Continues

Well, I’m still not happy with how things have progressed with the site so far. So much so, that I believe now I will start from scratch for a new design. I was going to try and use an existing template for WordPress (my blogging engine of choice) however now, the designer with in calls forth for me to make a crappy design. Thankfully, my brain is smarter and knows to call on the roommate to help where necessary .

Start of a New Year

Well, while I’ve had tons of time to post on here, I just haven’t felt like it ; sorry to those diligent readers. Christmas with the family was great and I’m blessed to have a family that loves me very much. Our Christmas was of the usual flare which is always reassuring. I came back to Raleigh a few days after Christmas to just take it easy before heading back to work.

I’ve posted some more photos to the gallery, some are open to all, but others are restricted to those who were actually at the event. If you’d like to see them, register at the bottom of the gallery page and I’ll let you know when your access is granted. I know to some this may seem silly, but I’ve had people ask me not to put their photos up on the web for all the world to see, just those who enjoyed the event.

Well, I guess I should get to bed, tomorrow is the first day back to work and there is lots to do before classes start next Monday.

New Feel

I got tired of the old look and feel of the site and so I’m using a new WordPress theme called Blue Marinee. I wish I could say I designed it all, but I didn’t. I did however, have to do quite a bit of work with the Gallery so I am proud of myself for that!
