Get a Mac Commercials

Apple has released a new set of Get a Mac commercials comparing a PC to a Mac. They talk about several of the issues surrounding the advantages that Macs have over PCs. Now before I start getting flamed - I just think these are funny. I’m not touting Mac superiority, I think PCs have their place in the world but if you ask my choice of machines - it’ll be a Mac every time.

Boot Camp

Some of my more tech savvy readers may have heard last week about Apple’s Boot Camp announcement. This beta software provided by Apple allows an owner of one of the new Intel based Mac computers to repartition their harddrive, install Windows XP, and successfully offer a dual-boot environment on one machine. You can have your cake and eat it too!

With all that said I found the following article today quite funny in regards to all of the Boot Camp hype going on. I must say however, great marketing move on the part of Apple who’s stock soared 10% after the Boot Camp announcement.

New Addiction

Ok - I felt that I had to come clean to all my readers (all 2 of you). I have a new addiction and the only thing I can hope to do is feed this addiction. I’ve tried to ween myself off to no avail. I just can’t help it anymore . . . I have to come clean!

I’m . . . .

I’m addicted . . . .

If Microsoft Redesigned the iPod Packaging

You can call me an Apple elitest if you’d like - but Apple does have a way of making a strong statement with their packaging.

FedEx Woes

All day today I’ve been anxiously watching my FedEx tracking to see when my most anticipated packaged would arrive today. You see, earlier this week (Monday night) I drove all the way out to Durham (yeah not that far), to the Apple store to purchase their new Aperture software. While they had it in stock, they couldn’t give me an academic discount :(. The discount is $250 so I returned home and ordered it online.

Let’s fast forward to Tuesday night when I get an email saying Aperture has shipped (much to my surprise). Even more surprised was that FedEx ground would be delivering the package today. I was very excited, as I knew I had the night free to play with the new software.

I sat and sat and sat around here this evening, waiting for my package to arrive. When finally at 8 PM, FedEx site changes to the following message:

Dec 1, 2005 6:33 PM

Delivery exception

DURHAM, NC

Delivery delayed, scheduled for next business day

I don’t know what the exception was but now I must wait even longer. Knowing my luck, they’ll try to deliver while I’m at work, leave a door tag, and thus I won’t get my software until Monday! Sigh - oh well.

Now some of you are laughing or making fun of me for my stress over a piece of software but like I’ve said before, I’m a nerd and I accept it :-D
